THE AFC BINLEY MANAGER, EDWIN GREAVES REPORTS ON HIS TEAM'S 0-2 SUCCESS AT CHRIST THE KING RESERVES...

"CTK Res. won the toss and changed ends to play with the wind and the sun in their favour. We got the game underway but struggled to get out of our half, as CTK put us under a lot of early pressure and they created their first good opportunity in the 11th minute when their number 14 forced a good save from Ryan Oldham.

Around the 20 minute mark Blake Kassar shot wide and soon, Liam Roach also shot wide. On the half-hour, a Sean Ryder pass set up Tyler Morgan but his shot was saved by the CTK goalkeeper.

An Andy Godfrey corner was headed wide by Kenroy Dennisur and then 36th Tyler Morgan set up Steven Young, who shot wide."

Half-time: Christ The King Res. 0-0 AFC Binley...

"CTK got the 2nd half underway but immediately Blake Kassar went on a run and the ball broke free for Danny Vincent to shoot from the edge of the penalty-box and his effort beat the CTK goalkeeper: 0-1.

Good work from Tyler Morgan and Blake Kassar created an opportunity for Rob Turrall to shoot over from close range, before Sean Ryder set up Blake Kassar who shot over.

CTK had a good opportunity with 20 minutes left but their number 5 shot over the target. Danny Vincent was replaced by Mtshuza Ncube and the substitute soon forced the CTK goalkeeper into a good save.

Mtshuza Ncube then passed to Tyler Morgan who shot over the crossbar and with 10 minutes remaining, CTK had a long throw which broke to their number 9 but he shot wide from inside the penalty-area. Soon afterwards an Andy Godfrey corner was headed wide by Kenroy Dennisur.

With 4 minutes remaining, first Sean Ryder was replaced by Brendan Hackett and then a long kick from Ryan Oldham was chased down by Tyler Morgan, who scored from close range: 0-2.

Mtshuza Ncube had a goal disallowed in added time for offside..."

Full-time: Christ The King Res. 0-2 AFC Binley...

In Summing Up This Game:

"This was by no means a pretty game to watch with both teams failing to work the goalkeepers when opportunities arose.
CTK had the better of the first half and we struggled for long periods of the game to get out of our half, however CTK couldn't make the advantage of the wind pay.

In the 2nd half we tried to play some football but it was only in patches and we still had to defend well as CTK kept this game on a knife edge right up until the final whistle.

Once again I am over the moon to take home the 3 points in a game where we were nowhere near our best against a side that is better than their current position suggests.

The lads dug deep and adjusted to the conditions and I cannot tell you how proud I am of them. This performance tells me that the lads will fight all the way to the finish line.

Only time will tell if we can achieve another promotion but for now we can only dream...

All the best to everyone at CTK for the remainder of the season."

Edwin Greaves,
AFC Binley Manager...
