Tuesday 7th July:
Not as warm as yesterday certainly, as I walked into Mousehole village to grab a newspaper at around 8am but despite a breeze, it certainly wasn’t cold.
Electricians were doing work onsite and so we had to vacate the caravan earlier than usual, walking into and around Mousehole in brightening weather. We took coffee upstairs at the deli, where we chatted to the owner, Caleb and his staff, who are really decent people, unlike some of the characters here who simply refuse to distance themselves on paths, or acknowledge anyone else who does. And there are plenty of those in Mousehole at the moment…
By around 12pm, we took lunch at the excellent 2 Fore Street: mackerel pâté, which is so good, well served and we acquired a table in the window too… All good there…

Back to the caravan, where one electrician was lying flat on the grass next to our caravan and we were asked to leave the kitchen light on when we went out, so that he could see whether his repair had been successful… Hmm…
Drove to Sennen Cove, where the tide was out and yet a number of people were surfing or simply playing in the sea but clouds were forming and it certainly wasn’t warm, as such. Walked across the beach, littered with various kinds of jellyfish and returned to the car, noting a couple walking along the harbour wall, which was labelled, er, no walking along…
Moved on to Penberth next, which was as it always is: boulders for a slipway, a capstan, two particularly spooky cottages and visions of the hamlet featuring in the recent ‘Poldark’ series.

The electrician arrived within ten minutes and fair play he admitted that he had failed to switch on the electricity before he left… Oops…
So, I walked down to the harbour just to stretch my legs again and despite the signs banning dogs from Mousehole’s rocky, weedy beach, people were on the beach with, er, their dogs…
Finally, during the middle of the evening, we checked out Newlyn’s old harbour, which I love, due to the Newlyn artists from Victorian times. Also walked alongside the quay, being amazed, as usual by the fishing vessels there, some of which look monstrous, rusted and full of dubious character somehow… Brilliant place to explore…
