FC WICKHAMFORD v BRETFORTON OLD BOYS: THE MATCH PREVIEW...

FC Wickhamford v Bretforton Old Boys:

The Match Preview…

(8th June 2021)

So, Bretforton have the opportunity to spoil FC Wickhamford’s ambitions by beating their local rivals and league leaders in their final Aquaid Division 1 game of the season.

However, second-placed Claverdon would need a victory at Feckenham Reserves on the same evening to stand any chance of snatching the title from Wicks, whatever happens at Wickhamford Sports Club. A draw would not be good enough for Clav’, due to Wicks’ goal difference being vastly superior.

Wicks have won 11, drawn 2 and lost 3 of their 16 matches this term, amassing a goal difference of +27 and of course, 35 points. Claverdon have a record of 11 wins, one draw and 4 defeats but their goal difference is just +11 and they currently have 34 points.

EFFECTIVE BRET DEFENDER Morgan Ballinger (6) IS CAUTIONED ON THIS OCCASION...

Bret’ lie 4th in the league table with 6 wins, 4 draws and 7 losses from their 17 matches, with a goal difference of -1 and a total of 22 points.

Wicks beat Bret’ 1-0 early in the season, courtesy of a Brown goal and I saw the second match at Bret’ which was comfortably won 2-4 by the guests, with Nathan Tomkotowicz scoring a brace and Jennings and Schembri one apiece. Kamil Zieba struck twice for the Old Boys.

According to the league’s Full-Time website, the leading goalscorers for Wicks are James Schembri with 15, skipper Louis Brown with 10 and Mike Jennings with 9. Brown seems to be the only player who has started all 16 matches.

According to Full-Time, Bret’s leading goalscorer is Tom Dixon with 6 and Steve Edghill is listed as the only player to have started all 17 games. However, it is not clear whether Bret's statistics are up to date!

Mani Singh: SCORED RECENTLY FOR BRET AGAINST REDDITCH...

All in all, the game should be lively and well attended by the followers of both clubs and there will be full coverage from Wednesday HERE ON MY BLOG

Wicks failed to gain the point they needed at Claverdon last Tuesday with an inept performance on a small pitch, even though they had beaten them twice previously, by 4-1 and 5-1.
