Squirrel Kittens
As if abandoned in uncut grass,
It nestled, forlorn.
Tiny, left behind,
One eye perfectly watchful,
Its demeanour defensive:
Huddled, meek, helpless, bashful…
As if absconded from uncut grass,
It hustled with brawn.
Tiny, well defined,
White tail, perfectly delightful,
Its rancour deceptive:
Muddled, sleek, relentless, zestful…

Two young squirrels, or kittens at Blythe Valley, one seemingly frightened, lying in long grass, the other resourceful and busy on the path with a stunning white tail…
