COLOSSUS... (My poem about Treyarnon Bay...)

 Colossus…

(Treyarnon Bay, Cornwall, 2009…)

Rising from a biting, whirling,

Rock-licking tide,

The dark colossus,

Immovable,

Irreplaceable,

Implacable,

Stood as a striking

Memorial to Neptune,

The base only

Remaining,

Straining,

Draining

The sea’s cacophony,

Rising from an exciting, swirling

Stone-weathering tide…

Pete Ray

Off Treyarnon Bay, a black monstrosity rose like a deity’s broken statue from the crazy sea.
