The Rock Pig & The Stackosaurus…
(Rock formations at Barafundle Bay…)
There was no mistaking its snout.
You could almost hear it grunting its displeasure
At being exposed to the weathering and each bout
Of lashing gales and piercing rain, a leisure
Pursuit unseemly for a rooting, foraging, snub-nosed gargoyle,
Cursed by a rash of lichen and hair of facial grass, in its purgatorial toil…
Of its prehistoric origins there was little doubt.
You could almost imagine it roaring its discomposure
At having to scavenge and lean and probe about
In wild storms and blistering heat, its composure
Strained by the constant rooting and foraging of herbivorous spoil,
With its lichen skin and an expression of alarm, fear and abject turmoil…

3rd May 2025…
Two sections of Barafundle’s rocky surroundings.
One looked like the head of a pig, the other seemed to resemble a prehistoric herbivore…
A personal view…
