NOT TACTICAL... (My poem about a wreck on Mousehole's sea-front, January 2002, Cornwall...)

 


Not Tactical…

(A wreck seen on Mousehole’s sea-front, January 2002…)



Grey and tinged on the horizon

With military blue,

The sea snarled across rocks

Like a rabble in battle.

Oblivious, it twisted and writhed

To reach the rusting hull

And buffet the shell

Like the bones of mariners to make her rattle…

On watching the Mousehole tide lash at the remains of a wreck, just offshore…



On 29th December 2000, the Dutch owned ‘DOLFYN’, a vessel on cable guard duty, protecting 

telecommunications cables from trawlers, ran aground off Carn Topna beach in Mousehole…
