ALL THE TIME IN THE WORLD... (My new poem inspired by Elena Miron's wintry painting...)

All The Time In The World…

(Inspired by Elena Miron’s painting…)

The sky hints at colour, casting its wintry chill over

A landscape once green maybe, but bleached white

By the elements, more of which threatens in the cloud cover,

As snow grips and disguises, haunts and surprises, yet to others it is merely a blight…

The desolation and the isolation shiver the observer’s mind,

But in absorbing the loneliness, a rare beauty begins to lure

The gaze towards the bushes and trees, stripped and consigned

To winter pall and the mauve range of mountains, curious and obscure…

19th December 2025…

Looking at the painting drew me back in time to snowy scenes illustrated upon Christmas cards.

I liked those pictures but rarely saw anything like them as a child, being a city dweller in a family with no car, or indeed, any real access to the countryside…
