MERGING MOUSEHOLE MORNING... (My new poem about Mousehole, Cornwall, December 2025...)

 Merging Mousehole Morning…



The forecast rain was the light kind which seems to seep 

Through one, driven by a strong breeze, as the morning broke.

Tarrying on the quay, I took a quick photograph using my phone

But erred in my hurry, moving it out of the rain too sharply,

Causing a misty, undefined product, dull but streaked 

with vertical bars of gold…


The intended image featured the accommodation, an old

Cottage, appearing orange, striped by yellow, almost bleakly

Nestling upon the quay, which captured Mousehole’s mystical tone:

A once busy harbour, a quaint historic village and the few fisherfolk  

Their legacy diminishing, but with a curious fascination to keep…

I moved my phone too quickly in the awful weather and somehow produced the above image.


I liked it.


The cottage, Tides Reach, is positioned just below centre, a slim dark orange rectangle with a yellow strip across it, for I had left a light glowing…
