Painting Stripes In The Harbour…
In some ways, it could be described as gaudy, a small slice of Blackpool
Perhaps. But that would be so wrong. Leaving aside
The pink juggling octopus, Mousehole’s harbour lights fool
No-one into thinking ‘Christmas market', or ‘fairground ride’,
For despite the glimmer of mauve, yellow, red and green,
The quayside is laid out traditionally, with three ships a-sailing,
A Christmas pudding and a lantern, bells and conifers, a Nativity scene,
A sea monster and a spouting whale, baubles and of course not failing
To display a large Mousehole Cat and the enigmatic Stargazy Pie
Amongst other seasonal delights. And the daubed reflections, when the tide is low
Resemble painted stripes across the slick mud and sand, shivering awry,
Whilst the St Clement’s Island cross shines resolute with its silvery glow…

Mousehole’s Christmas lights…
Tastefully unique…
