AFC BINLEY'S EDWIN GREAVES REPORTS ON HIS TEAM'S 2-0 VICTORY OVER STOCKTON...

"We got the game underway and managed to put Stockton on the back foot almost immediately.

Controlling the game we took the lead in the 20th minute when Justin Lang and Tyler Morgan combined to set Blake Kassar free who unselfishly squared the ball for Fabian Spence to score: 1-0.

We nearly doubled our lead in the 32nd minute when Steven Young's shot hit the crossbar and was cleared. On top now, Justin Lang had a free header which went wide and then a shot also went over the target.

Stockton then had their first opportunity of the game with a long range shot which Jordan Campbell pushed wide of a post.

In the 42nd minute we finally got the 2nd goal our play deserved; however, it came from a mistake by the Stockton defence. A defender tried a back pass without looking and Blake Kassar nipped in and was through on goal but when everyone thought he was about to shoot, Blake squared the ball for Tyler Morgan to score: 2-0.

Half-time: 2-0.

The 2nd half saw Stockton put us under more pressure but we defended very well as a team, with Sebastian Kassar and Curtis Smallwood keeping Stockton to shooting from distance.

We managed to withstand the pressure and almost scored a 3rd goal when Tatenda Bako pulled his shot wide. Substitute Jaydon Bickley raced clear in the 86th minute and the Stockton goalkeeper pulled off a good save.

In the 89th minute Blake Kassar's shot was also saved by the Stockton goalkeeper's legs as we exploited the spaces when Stockton pushed more players forward.

Full-time: 2-0.

In summing up this game:

The lads knew today that they would have to put in a performance like no other against a very good Stockton side and they didn't disappoint me at all.

During the 1st half we controlled the game and could have come in with a bigger lead than we did, however in the 2nd half it was backs to the wall and defending for our lives at times.

Having said that, Jordan Campbell had a relatively quite afternoon and the Stockton goalkeeper was forced to make several important saves to keep his side in the game.

This victory will give the lads a bit more confidence and self belief especially after the other good results we have picked up recently and to do the double over this Stockton side is a great achievement for everyone connected with the club.

Up next for us is Coventry Colliery Reserves away, another team in fine form, so we know what we will have to do and what is expected of us.

We are only one result away from undoing all the good work we have put into this season so far, so hopefully we can maintain our levels and continue with the standards we have set recently."
