The GNP Sports FC manager, Sham Alam, provides his personal thoughts on the 4-3 win over promotion rivals Bartestree:
"The players had steely looks in their eyes all week leading up to the Bartestree game, looks that I haven’t seen before, so the result was never going to be in question in my mind, especially after our experience in Hereford when we played them in the Challenge Vase earlier in the season.
Leading up to the game, we hadn’t run away from the fact that we had let ourselves down in recent cup games with bad performances and results, but we can’t ignore the fact this team only started in June and are on a great run when it comes to league games.
Against Bartestree it's difficult, for they put a lot of pressure on the officials and it can be intimidating at times but there was only ever one team that wanted to win the game, the other was happy to hold out for a draw. There was one team camped in their own half whilst the other attacked and attacked, something evident from watching the game highlights.
The players fought for every metre and gave me their everything; I asked them to destroy Bartestree before the game and I personally think that mentally they will struggle to come back from that defeat, after leading 3-2 with minutes to go.
I want to thank everyone who played and didn’t play on Saturday and my challenge to the group now is to complete the month of November undefeated as we prepare for a Q/F game versus Boldmere and 3 important league fixtures after that.
Finally, one team in particular seem to do all their talking on Twitter and its clear that they are worried about us, considering that they're always talking about us. It's GNP, GNP, GNP...
We can’t wait for the December fixtures to be released when we finally find out when we are to face their long-ball tactics.
Yours in football..."
Shamir Alam, Manager, GNP Sports...
