GNP SPORTS v BARTESTREE: MATCH PREVIEW...

GNP Sports v Bartestree:
Match Preview by The Mowdog…

This Midland League 3 clash between the current league leaders GNP and third placed Bartestree promises to be a tense affair. GNP have won all of their six league games whilst Bartestree have won five of their seven, losing two. GNP have a goals ratio of 16-6 and Bartestree’s figures are 19-9 but neither compare favourably with second placed FC Stratford, whose record is remarkable in the league. They have won five from five but their goals ratio is 39-2, meaning very nearly 8 goals scored in each league match thus far…

GNP have played a Vase tie at Bartestree this season already and they won 5-6 on penalties, following a 1-1 draw.
SAM WANLESS: a brace at Birmingham Tigers...

Recent cup competitions have interrupted GNP’s league season, losing twice to AEI Rugby at home, 1-5 and 3-4, being defeated 3-2 at Dunlop but winning 0-1 at Feckenham.

Their last league games were wins of 3-1 and 2-1 over CT Shush and Coventrians respectively.
CHARLIE COOK (9): a real menace at times...

Leading goalscorer Charlie Cook has 4 goals, whilst Aaron Donaldson and Leigh Phillips have 3 apiece. This maybe highlights a shortage of league goals by Sports, just an average of 2.67 goals scored per game, compared to FC Stratford’s ridiculous 7.8…

Since the ‘Tree’s success in the Les James competition, 0-2 at Enville Athletic, they have won a game I watched v Leamington Hibernian, 3-0, then drew 2-2 in a Herefordshire cup-tie at Ewyas Harold but lost 3-4 on penalties. A loss at home recently in the league, 1-4 to AFC Solihull was a blow to the club but the players will travel to Coventry with resolve for this important encounter.
ELLIOT WATTS: 'Tree 'keeper...

Top scorer is Louis Mann with 8, followed by Miles Langford with 4. Oddly the team’s goal average per game is just better than GNP’s, at 2.71…
LOUIS MANN: leading scorer...

I saw GNP’s hard fought win at Birmingham Tigers when right-back Sam Wanless netted a brace to grind out a win with no frills in a tough match. They are the defender’s only goals this term so far.
SAM WANLESS: only scores when I'm there???

When I visited Bartestree, Leamington Hibs were stubborn, having only 11 available players there, plus a couple struggling limping and two more dismissed but goals by Stewart New, Louis Mann and Nick Weaver saw the hosts home…
STEWART NEW has scored v Hibs...

Coverage of this highly anticipated encounter will be on my blog from Sunday, at:

and hopefully, the game will live up to expectations…
