EDWIN GREAVES, THE AFC BINLEY MANAGER, WRITES ABOUT HIS TEAM'S 9-0 WIN v HAWKESMILL SPORTS RESERVES...

"A minute's silence was observed by both sides in memory of two local young children who were tragically killed in midweek.

Hawkesmill Sports Reserves got the game underway and despite having a few long range efforts that went high over the bar, soon found themselves under pressure.

We took the lead in the 21st minute when an Andy Godfrey cross was finished by Blake Kassar: 1-0.

In the 35th minute we scored the goal of the game with a move involving Andy Godfrey, Fabian Spence and Paul Govier, whose cross was dummied by Blake Kassar for Travis Smallwood to score at the back post: 2-0.

In the 41st minute Travis Smallwood and Fabian Spence linked up for Paul Govier to score: 3-0."

In the 90th minute a Travis Smallwood pass gave Paul Govier a chance to score and also complete his hat-trick: 9-0."

Full-time: AFC Binley 9-0 Hawkesmill Sports Res.

In summing up this game:

"This was a very good team performance from the lads today with several players putting in probably their best performances of the season.

Hawkesmill Sports Res. kept going and worked hard for each other all game but apart from a few long range efforts in the 1st half, they didn't really trouble us as a attacking threat.

It was nice to get the 3 points in such a comprehensive manner and with a much improved team performance from last week, it was also pleasing.

What pleased me most though was how the squad of players today continued trying to play football until the final whistle, scoring 4 goals in the last 16 minutes, showing how much effort the lads put into this game.

Best of luck to Hawkesmill Sports Res. for the remainder of the season.

Up next for us is another home game this time against Athletic Sparta..."

Edwin Greaves, the
AFC Binley Manager.
