ICE ON MAWGAN PORTH BEACH: A NEW POEM...

Ice On Mawgan Porth Beach

As the bright morning glinted
On the flushing, incoming tide,
My boots crackled, splintering
A gossamer thin layer of beach ice
Beneath the blinding morning glare
Of sunlight, at which early spring was hinted.

Obscurely, I jogged on snapping sand
And boot-surfed across the ice,
Skidding, sliding, just two metres spanned,
Thus crushing it in a trice…

Mawgan Porth beach, 23rd February, 2018.
There was frost on some dry sand.

Some wet, damp sand had become coated with very thin ice which crackled beneath my boots.

I ran and slid, like on an icy pavement in my childhood…

Loved it.
