At stage centre, a silent thespian
Raises a staunch, yet pathetic expression
In the throes of a clean-cut death;
Hand to heart, the drama unfolds,
Eyes betraying his obsession,
As Christ attends his last breath…
No visible wound, no infantryman’s fate,
More a privileged academic’s mental depression;
No unmarked grave for this fellow but more likely a hero’s wreath…
