AFC BINLEY'S MANAGER EDWIN GREAVES WRITES ABOUT HIS TEAM'S 1-5 AWAY WIN v POLONIA...

"Polonia got the game underway and took an early lead in the 5th minute.

Kyle Metcalfe and Fabian Spence collided and the ball fell kindly to a Polonia forward, whose early shot from outside the box beat Ryan Oldham: 1-0.

We managed to get back on level terms in the 11th minute when good work from Blake Kassar and Tyler Morgan forced a defensive error which Tyler Morgan took advantage of and finished well: 1-1.

In the 15th minute we took the lead when this time Tyler Morgan turned provider for Blake Kassar to score: 1-2.

In the 19th minute we increased our lead when a 25 yard pass from Andy Godfrey found Blake Kassar perfectly, who beat the offside trap before giving the goalkeeper no chance with his finish: 1-3.

In the 32nd minute Ryan Oldham's kick was flicked on by Steven Young for Blake Kassar to score with a powerful shot to complete his hat-trick: 1-4.

Fabian Spence then forced a very good save from the Polonia goalkeeper.

In the 40th minute Ryan Oldham had to pull off a good double save, the first one with his legs, before also saving the rebound."

Half-time Polonia 1-4 AFC Binley...

"The 2nd half started with us continuing where we left off in the 1st half and more good work from Tyler Morgan and Andy Godfrey forced a corner.

From the resulting corner in the 47th minute taken by Andy Godfrey, the ball was volleyed in by Tyler Morgan for another excellent finish: 1-5.

Tatenda Bako had another opportunity but shot wide and Kenroy Dennisur also headed wide before Polonia's number 9 found himself 1 on 1 with Ryan Oldham but he shot wide.

In the 53rd minute Fabian Spence and Samuel Zengeya linked up well before Samuel Zengeya crossed, but Blake Kassar headed wide.

In the 64th minute Polonia unfortunately had 2 players sent off, which up to this point was totally out of character for this game.
In the 78th minute Tyler Morgan was replaced by Zach Garland and in the 80th minute Steven Young was replaced by Jacob Scullion."

Full-Time: Polonia 1-5 AFC Binley...

In Summing Up This Game:

"After going behind so early in this game to a good Polonia goal, the lads showed good character and worked hard to get themselves back into it against a side which we have not beaten before in the previous 3 meetings.

We deserved our victory today but it was the way we won the game which pleased me most.

The lads were excellent today with the ball and played some really exciting football but it was the work rate off the ball which really pleased me.

To a man they denied Polonia any time or space and in the end the lads made it a comfortable afternoon after an excellent 1st half performance.

I would rate this performance as the best since I took charge of AFC Binley.

I would like to wish Polonia all the best for the remainder of the season.

Up next for us is our 1st Cup game of the season, for we are away to Athletic Sparta in the Foleshill Charity Cup."

Edwin Greaves,
AFC Binley Manager...
