STARK NOVEMBER: A NEW POEM TO ACCOMPANY KIRSTY ELSON'S 2018 CALENDAR IMAGE...

Stark November
(Kirsty Elson’s November Image From Her 2018 Calendar…)

Marram grass sprouts from cold, dank sand,
Rowing boat lists, adhered, beached;
Long, lined, languid path leads like a railway track
Upon which stone or clay were once traded by Cornish hand
And yet no life stirs here, no bargains are reached…

November tree leans ugly, stark and bare,
Life-ring or tyre swings low and redundant;
Roped, ragged, rustic fence and gate lie crooked,
Old bench lies near white wall’s pallid glare,
Where retired old fishermen once smoked pipes, insouciant…

Another atmospheric creation from Kirsty Elson…
