Candy In Stale Green
Like a psychedelic candy tree trunk
Rooted to the horizon,
A thick rainbow column stands
In stagnant, stale green sea, it appears,
Its boughs dulled and daubed,
By dank, grey clouds of indiscriminate rain;
Black-backed gulls wheel, seemingly caught
In blustery gusts, before banking and gliding again,
As gannets dive to impale fish like spears…

Winter Mousehole sunlight and a calm blue ocean turned to grey skies and distressed pale green water, as a heavy shower threatened.
Gulls wheeled and gannets dived…
