HARRY IS APPLAUDED ONTO THE FIELD BY THE COVENTRY UNITED PLAYERS... |
"Today saw the weirdest football moment I've ever really experienced live, which caused outrage from Lichfield but in all fairness was their own mistake.
The game had just gone 1-0 to Lichfield after 67 minutes, and they'd run to celebrate over in front of the dugouts but remained in our half whilst celebrating.
After having their moment that they were entitled to, they made the decision to get up and return inside their own half but continued with prolonged celebrations.
Frustrated with the time they were taking, the referee had signalled for them to organise and as they still continued all over the right hand side of their half, the referee blew for kick off allowing Josh O'Grady and super-sub Kai Williams to run at a free Lichfield half with only their GK switched on.
After Josh squared it to Kai to tap in an open goal, understandably the Lichfield bench were fuming: but more so with the officials than their own players. I 100% see why they were angry, as the ref restarted when they weren't ready, but they had plenty of time to organise after their goal but decided not to.
Unfortunately, it took this for us to truly wake up and super-sub went and got his second only 10 minutes later, giving us a crucial 3 points in a difficult fixture which takes us back up to where we deserve to be... 1st.
My main issue with today wasn't really the football, but those benches in the dugouts caused an unreal number of splinters and it's led to an uncomfortable ride home..."
