EDWIN GREAVES, THE AFC BINLEY MANAGER, REPORTS ON HIS TEAM'S 3-2 DEFEAT AT FILLONGLEY...

Game 1: Fillongley 3-2 AFC Binley...

"The day that every manager, player and supporter longs for is the start of a new season. We were at Fillongley and the match didn't turn out well for us at all...

Binley got the game underway and the first chance of the new season fell to Brian Ndlovu but he shot wide from a Blake Kassar pass.

An Andy Godfrey corner found Tyler Morgan, who shot over the crossbar and in the 18th minute Rob Turrall, Brian Ndlovu and Blake Kassar all linked up well together but the Fillongley goalkeeper made a comfortable save.

Fillongley then took a quick short corner but the resulting shot went wide. Fillongley did take the lead however, when a long kick from their goalkeeper wasn't dealt with by Kenroy Dennisur and Liam Roach, allowing the number 9 to score with an excellent first time shot: 1-0.

In the 31st minute an Andy Godfrey free-kick went wide before Fillongley doubled their lead when Scott Davies failed to gather the ball. A Fillongley forward put the ball into the net from close range: 2-0.

Fillongley almost scored again when their number 7 had a free header from a corner."

Half-time: Fillongley 2-0 AFC Binley...

"Fillongley got the 2nd half underway and almost increased their lead further in the 47th minute when a shot was cleared off the line by Andy Godfrey.
In the 50th minute Tyler Morgan forced a good save from the Fillongley goalkeeper but we soon reduced the deficit when a Melusi Mazwi free-kick was converted from close range by Blake Kassar: 2-1.

Tyler Morgan scored a hotly contested penalty to make it 2-2 and it should have been anybody's game, then Mtshumayeli Ncube was replaced by Prince Mazwi and Tyler Morgan was replaced by Jack Carroll.

In the 87th minute we failed to clear the ball, Prince Mazwi gave way a needless free-kick and the number 7 scored directly from the free-kick: 3-2."

Full-time: Fillongley 3-2 AFC Binley...

In Summing Up This Game:

"This was not the performance that I was expecting and although we were better in the 2nd half, we didn't do enough over 90 minutes to get anything from this game.

Fillongley played to their strengths and deserved their lead at half-time and for me just edged it over 90 minutes.

The Miners Arms M.o.M. was awarded to Tatenda Bako."
