DROITWICH SPA SALTMEN v CRADLEY TOWN HAMMERS: THE MOWDOG'S PREVIEW...

 Droitwich Spa v Cradley Town:

The Mowdog’s Preview…

Droitwich Spa play their first home league game in Midland League Division 1 tonight at the refurbished Leisure Centre ground against visitors Cradley Town.

The hosts have won their opening two fixtures, both on the road and currently lie 4th in the league table with 6 points and a goals ratio of 7 to 3.

A 0-3 success at Chelmsley Town came first, where a Connor Collins spot-kick, a fine curling effort by skipper James Lemon and an Alex Dugmore header saw them home. Lemon was also voted the game’s MVP.

CONNOR COLLINS...

Next was a thrilling 3-4 victory at fellow league newcomers Ingles and this time Lemon scored early for Spa with a shot under the ‘keeper. Callum Green’s flick from Jack Brighton’s corner was helped into the net by the home goalie to make it 1-2 to the guests, then Collins and substitute Ollie Thompson struck to give Spa a 2-4 lead, before the hosts grabbed another goal back.

JAMES LEMON...

Cradley currently lie 18th in the standings, with a draw and two losses so far, a goals ratio of 4-9 and just a single point to show for their endeavours.

First came a tough 6-2 loss at Coton Green where Town trailed 5-0 at the interval. Jake Crackett, with a header and replacement David Agyekum with a fine solo effort scored consolation goals for the visitors and Agyekum was voted Cradley’s MVP…

JAKE CRACKETT...

Next came a 2-2 draw v Nuneaton Griff, a match in which Crackett scored again, this time from a free-kick and he was duly elected the team's MVP, whilst substitute Tom Baker netted the other goal as time ran out.

DARREN WHITLEY: EVER-PRESENT SO FAR...

A disappointing 0-1 loss at home to Ashby Ivanhoe followed last Saturday...

So all is set up for the Saltmen’s special night at their newly appointed ground and of course they will be keen to extend their run to three wins on the bounce, whilst the Hammers will be looking to spoil the party…
