JUST POPPING OUT TO THE LATRINE...

 Just Popping Out To The Latrine…

Perhaps it just scrambled out to use a latrine,

Or from its daylight repose

Had been awakened

By tumbling peanuts into an entrance

Shaft of the communal sett

And precipitating its irresistible foraging…

Perhaps it simply intimated the use of a latrine,

Having indeed been disturbed from a doze

And thus alerted

To the scattered morsels, in advance

Of the other badgers from its cete

And precipitating its inexorable rampaging…

One badger appeared at Temple Balsall on Friday 12th August whilst I was there briefly and in a ‘one-brock show’ a single badger spent a good ten minutes eating hungrily from my scattered food morsels.

It made me think that it was stealing a march on the  other resting badgers, perhaps even grunting at the clan: “Just popping out to the loo…”
