Hide & Seek…
It must have been ‘on'. Or ‘it’. Or whatever,
Cuz it tucked itself into its hole
And counted somehow, no doubt.
It cheated though, which wasn’t clever,
As several glances out it stole.
Well, there were no others about…
It was the the badger to hide. The prey, or whatever,
Cuz it sneaked round a tree from its hole
And hurried but was seen, no doubt.
It trotted on oblivious, not clever,
Cuz of the peeping ‘it’ stole.
And there were no others about…

The strange behaviour of two badgers at Temple Balsall…
There had been some nervousness amongst the clan caused by the sound of a stiff breeze, which pulled acorns from an oak tree and caused them to drop noisily onto the ground.
One rather loud aeroplane spooked the five badgers on show too.
Later however, as one badger sneaked out of a sett hole, round a tree and stealthily jogged across the scene, I was reminded of a game of hide and seek, especially as the other visible badger at that time was half-in and half-out of another hole, as if it was ‘on’ and would have to find its clan member…
It did appear to be cheating though…
