The Face-Off…
A robin, guarding its territory,
A peculiar stand-off forced:
A face-off with a feeding badger, a few metres away.
It hopped upon a jutting stone,
Almost taunting the mammal, which
Simply ignored the bird, its concern desultory.
Upon the copse’s dry ground coarse,
The robin stole peanuts and held sway,
For its sudden rustling and shrill chirping tone
Scattered the clan of badgers back into their ditch…
