Wake Green Amateurs v Enville Athletic:
The Mowdog’s Preview…
Despite living locally, this will be my first visit to a match at Wake Green. Now in Midland League 3, the Ams have started decently, fighting back to claim a point at fellow league newcomers Solihull Sporting on the opening day, then whacking Leamington Hibs last weekend.
THE WAKES... |
The final game I saw last term before contracting Covid was Leamington Hibs v Enville and strangely one of the first pre-season games I saw this season involved Wake Green, at Hampton…
Enville began this season very well, winning on the road at Sutton Rangers but last weekend was perhaps a bit of a disaster, not only losing at Coventrians but also having two players dismissed.
So, in the current standings after two games, Wake Green lie 4th with a goal difference of +4 and with 4 points, whilst Enville are 6th, with a goal difference of 0 and a total of 3 points…
The Ams were 2-0 behind at the break at Solihull Sporting, before Jack Duggan headed in a cross by Nathan Percival to reduce the arrears. Sporting netted a third goal but back came Wake Green with a deflected Ellis Vaux strike and another Duggan header from Vaux’s assist. Naturally, Duggan was voted his team’s MVP.
At home v Hibs, Ash Smith rapped in a hat-trick for the Ams, whilst Ben Parker grabbed a close range goal to complete a 4-0 victory. Hibs elected Lewis Percival as MVP on this occasion but clearly the Wakes themselves chose Ash Smith!
SKIPPER BEN PARKER TAKES THE TOSS AT HAMPTON RECENTLY... |
Enville’s 1-2 win at Sutton came courtesy of goals by James Bland and Josh Poole in a comeback win, whilst Nathan Owen was chosen as the team’s MVP. Sutton’s substitute Mark Webster was dismissed during the match.
CALLUM KEARNEY, AFTER SCORING AT LEAMINGTON HIBS LAST TERM...
Last week, the 2-1 loss at Coventrians saw Jack Parkes getting the goal and Jack Sulley was voted the team’s MVP, but both Jack Rhodes and Callum Kearney were sent-off. Apparently, a bad challenge caused one dismissal to happen, then a spat between the other Enville player and Coventrians’ Ally Hassan resulted in both of those contestants being red-carded.
On the Full-Time website, it appears too that Enville managed to field just eleven players on the day, with no available replacements listed…
So, all is set for a decent clash between these two teams tomorrow and video highlights, screenshots, images and a full match report will be at themowdog.blogspot.com from Sunday morning…
