BRINKLOW FC MANAGER EDWIN GREAVES WRITES ABOUT THE 2-7 DEFEAT TO THE HIGHER RANKED COVENTRY COPSEWOOD...

BRINKLOW: FOUGHT HARD AGAINST COVENTRY COPSEWOOD...

"Copsewood got the game underway but it was a poor defensive clearance in the 4th minute that gave us a great chance to take an early lead.

Blake Kassar picked up the clearance from the Copsewood goalkeeper, raced clear but the 'keeper made amends with the faintest of touches to keep the score at 0-0.

It was then our turn to defend as Nathan Stoute was forced to clear off the line in the 8th minute. Copsewood did eventually take the lead from a corner in the 14th minute: 0-1.

We then went close to an equaliser when Connor Tallett's free-kick went just wide.
In the 33rd minute Lloyd Pulford was fouled in the box for a penalty and Nic Whittam
sent the goalkeeper the wrong way: 1-1.

Our joy was short lived though, as Copeswood regained the lead on 36 minutes: 1-2.

The 2nd half got underway with more goals to Copsewood:

49 minutes: 1-3,
53 minutes: 1-4,
54 minutes: 1-5,
59 minutes: 1-6,
then 61 minutes: 2-6 Blake Kassar,
but 69 minutes: 2-7.

We still had other good opportunities to score but a mixture of poor finishing and good goalkeeping summed up the day in front of goal.

In summing up this game:

This was a great game of football for the neutrals, with good football being played by both sides. The difference today for me was the Copsewood forwards who can both play higher than the level that they are currently playing at. I don't think we will meet a pair of forwards like that again this season.

I can take a lot of positives out of this game: my players did me proud today and they can all hold their heads up. We never gave up and kept creating chances right up to the final whistle.

There is no shame in losing to a better team from a higher division and at times there wasn't much between the two sides.

Copsewood were deserved winners and I wish Luke, Dicko, Ross and Derrick all the best for the remainder of the season.

For me and my players, we pick ourselves up, regroup and look forward to another Cup Game next weekend.

Onto the next game..."
