"Coventry Colliery got the game underway, however it was us who forced an early mistake and from the resulting Hosein Khorami corner Chay Kalym was able to score with a low shot after approximately 45 seconds: 1-0...
After 8 minutes things got even better for us when Hosein Khorami and Macca Richards linked up with Blake Kassar, whose turn was good and his shot was unstoppable: 2-0...
After 9 minutes, a run and shot from Matty Brown made it 3-0.
27 minutes: Matty Brown scored his 2nd goal of the day: 4-0...
32 minutes: Matty Brown completed his hat-trick after some very good pressing work from his team-mates to win the ball back: 5-0...
We still had time for Michael Thomas to shoot over the bar and Lloyd Pulford had a shot saved by the Colliery goalkeeper.
In the 2nd half we continued to work hard and tried not to let Colliery back into the game.
Daniel Mallinson was able to start off many of our attacks with Nathan Stoute, Tatenda Baku and Jordan Hayward working hard to keep the team playing football, although our crossing occasionally let us down from wide areas.
We increased our lead in the 56th minute when another Hosein Khorami corner was again finished off with another shot from Chay Kalym: 6-0...
A lapse of concentration after 62 minutes from the defence left Daniel Mallinson exposed and a good finish meant Colliery pulled a goal back: 6-1...
However we went straight down the other end with a Lloyd Pulford run and cross and this was finished off by Blake Kassar: 7-1...
70 minutes: Matty Brown was replaced by Malik Houade and Mike Thomas was replaced by Kallum Hand.
78 minutes: Hosein Khorami was replaced by Connor Tallett.
80 minutes: Malik Houade had a great opportunity to score but shot tamely at the goalkeeper.
83 minutes: good work from Connor Tallett set up Macca Richards: 8-1...
90 minutes: we conceded from a corner: 8-2...
In summing up this game:
I could not really ask for any more from my players at the current time. This performance, on the back of last weekend's performance, was very encouraging for me.
Today, for the second week running, we were good from start to finish, the only difference today was that we took our chances when they arrived.
I feel the lads are beginning to believe a little more in their own ability but more importantly we are improving as a team. If we can maintain these standards and get rid of our mistakes, we will slowly start climbing the table.
Today was all about getting the 3 points we needed and we achieved that so I am happy and today's performance was the icing on the cake. I know there is still room for improvement but we are getting closer with the performances I have seen from the lads recently.
We now find ourselves back in cup action next week, so the lads could not be going into that game with more confidence.
I would like to wish all at Coventry Colliery all the best for the remainder of the season.
On to the next game..."
