Succulent blue,
Pinpoint clarity
Of southern sky dazzled,
Coolly
Over luscious surf,
Negotiating beach-moat
Of giving, silver sand.
Slate-grey,
Submerging bulk
Of southern seal swam,
Imperceptibly
Through cascading surf,
Angling due west
Of Cornwall’s dwindling land.
Spiritual gold,
Smiling calm
Of Midland soul reached
Willingly
Across curling surf,
Drawing lethal doses
Of joy’s rewarding hand…
