ALCESTER TOWN v BOLEHALL SWIFTS: THE MOWDOG'S MATCH PREVIEW...

ALCESTER TOWN v BOLEHALL SWIFTS: THE MOWDOG’S MATCH PREVIEW…

STRATFORD ROAD...

Saturday sees the Romans entertain the Swifts from Tamworth in what could be an interesting encounter in the Midland League Division 2…

Alcester have drawn all three of their matches thus far and despite some problems with Covid and holidays affecting team selection, manager Matt Seeley has still been frustrated with the results, despite his outfit remaining unbeaten…

JOE DRAKE-CERVANTES v ALVECHURCH IN PRE-SEASON...

In both 3-3 draws v Barnt Green Spartak and at Earlswood Town, the Romans squandered 3-1 leads, suggesting that seeing games out might just be the coaching focus ‘moving forward’ (a phrase I hate, as most interviewed people use it, so I thought I would, just the once…)

MIKE JENNINGS...

Umit Eminoglu scored twice in the Spartak match, with Daniel Williams nabbing the other goal but Drew Ricketts was dismissed during the game. Eminoglu was voted the Romans’ MVP by their opponents.

At Earlswood, Guy Clark, Kyle King and Lewis Clarke scored the goals and again, Eminoglu was given the MVP vote by the hosts.

In their last fixture, Town were held to a 1-1 draw at home by Cadbury Athletic and it was significant that Romans’ ‘keeper Jack Hartopp was voted MVP. Owen Ward scored the point-winning goal for Alcester in that match.

5th placed Swifts won a fine opening day victory on the road at Boldmere Falcons by a single goal, the scorer being Josh Reeve. Falcons voted Swifts’ ‘keeper Shane Wardall as their MVP.

SHANE WARDALL MAKES A CATCH THE LAST TIME I SAW HIM PLAY BUT HE IS CURRENTLY HURT...

A 3-2 win v Barnt Green Spartak followed, during which George Davis bagged a brace and Dave Gadsby added the other goal, whilst Frazer Mullis was voted the Swifts’ MVP by the visitors.

A THOUGHTFUL JOSH REEVE...

Last time out, Swifts lost 1-3 at  home to a strong looking Fairfield Villa outfit, Nick Clark scored the goal and Gadsby was voted MVP by Villa…

COREY SAMUELS IN ACTION FOR SWIFTS...

A similar goal difference of, er, 0 has been achieved by these two teams but Alcester have netted 7 times, as opposed to Bolehall’s 5…

GROUP IMAGE...

Covid Cup winners Alcester will be looking to graft for a win against their guests but Swifts have had a good result in their only other away match, so a tight encounter at Stratford Road might just ensue.
