BIRDS, PLANES, CARS, GUNFIRE, FARM MACHINERY & A BROKEN TWIG...

 Birds, Planes, Cars, Gunfire, Farm Machinery & A Broken Twig…

No silence, no tranquility

Near the badgers’ sett,

For the cacophony would not cease,

Highlighting the vulnerability

There was the birdsong which infiltrated

Through the woodland

And the harvesting machinery clanking

Across the farmland;

There was the drone of aircraft, which created

A curious grind

And the groan of vehicles accelerating,

Rudely unrefined;

There was even gunfire, which penetrated

The shading canopy

But the badgers, unperturbed, continued eating…

Yet a step on a twig

Or a foot on a leaf,

Sent the badgers scurrying,

Panicked by grief…
