The Lawmakers & The Perpetrator…
As if evidence is sought
By police constables moving
Slowly forwards in a line
Scanning the woodland floor,
Three badgers seek evidence
Of food particles, shoving
Aside twigs and fallen leaves as they scour…
Whilst like a culprit, the perpetrator,
A fox, lurks in the dusk ahead;
Watchful, eyes keen yet strangely tender,
It steals the rations carelessly spread…

Watching the line of three badgers approaching, feeding, reminded me of police searching in a forest.
Suddenly, a few metres behind me, a fox was spotted, eating the forage, with eyes wary of and committed to my presence…
