BROMSGROVE SPORTING'S CHRIS JAY WRITES HIS VIEWS ABOUT THE 4-2 VICTORY OVER COVENTRY UNITED: |
"In our biggest game of the season against Coventry United, in front of nearly a thousand fans, I thought we played the best we have all season in the first-half.
Coventry started brightly but then when Brainy slotted home the first we were on fire, scoring 2 more goals in quick succession, Reece Hewitt and Connor Collins with two great finishes! We could have easily been 4 up at half-time, missing a good chance just beforehand.
At half-time Coventry would have been fired up by theIr management and second-half they came out of the traps but didn't really trouble us; we defended really well.
We had a couple of half chances to add to our lead but didn't manage to take them. Then they pulled one back, which I was disappointed in myself. I should have dealt with the cross much better, but thank god it didn't affect the result in the end.
Aaron Roberts then scored a cracking volley following a corner which put us 4 - 1 up and we were comfortable again, playing down the clock and we should have been given a nailed-on penalty for a foul on Brainer but the ref didn't give it.
He then gave Coventry United a much softer penalty for a foul on O'Grady in stoppage time. We were disappointed with letting in 2 soft goals and losing our clean sheet run which we were on. We had gone 5 games without conceding, but we got the result we wanted and now it makes it very interesting going into the business end of the season.
The fans that turned out on Saturday were different class: they sang their hearts out all game. The shed-end was absolutely rocking at the final whistle. I'd like to thank each and every one of them for their support; hopefully they all went home happy with the result..."
