HIGHGATE UNITED'S SCOTT TURNER WRITES ABOUT HIS TEAM'S LOSS TO WESTFIELDS: |
"Despite the distance Westfields travelled for this midweek fixture, the talk in the dressing room was about how well they have done on the road, so it was important not be complacent.
Coming off the back of a deserved 2-0 victory away at Boldmere, I felt we might get something out of the game. We started well, enjoying the majority of the possession and on another day we might have had at least one penalty. They were quick on the break, however and caused us some problems in the first-half.
Despite our possession we struggled to execute that killer ball to unlock the organised Westfields defence and couldn't make the possession count. To make things worse, we conceded from a set-piece, something we've been particularly good at preventing of late.
The second-half was much of the same; we dominated in possession early on but failed to make our chances count. In this league, if you fail to take your chances you will get punished.
Pushing for the equaliser often left us exposed to the counter and I thought they played that very well. Eventually we conceded the second. It was a frustrating night for us and a deserved victory for Westfields, but we need to go again on Saturday and try and get back to winning ways..."
