COVENTRY UNITED MANAGER EDWIN GREAVES REFLECTS ON THE 2-1 DEFEAT @ HEATH HAYES...

"After bouncing back with a win last weekend we knew we were in for another difficult afternoon against a Heath Hayes side that is a tough side to break down.

We got off to the best possible start with a goal from Ben Vallance after 3 minutes, then created other opportunities which unfortunately Chris Cox and Brian Ndlovu couldn't take.

We controlled the 1st half and knocked the ball around with confidence & I could not have been happier at half-time.

The 2nd half was slightly different, I felt Heath Hayes started to cause us more problems without troubling Richard Morris. We weren't passing the ball as well as the 1st half and it was coming back a little too easily for my liking. We began to drop a little deeper and spaces started to appear that just weren't there in the 1st half.

I made my changes: Wendel Moyo for Muzi Nduna, Pierre Moudime for Coxy and Matty Brown for Brian Ndlovu. We conceded 2 late goals and ended up losing a game that we controlled for 80 minutes.

In summing up this game: as good as we were in the 1st half, we stopped doing the correct things in the 2nd half. We allowed Heath Hayes to grow into the game by not taking our chances when they were created. In the 2nd half we started going long and gave the ball away far too easily.

Heath Hayes kept going to the end and took the only two chances that came their way.

Some people may say my substitutions contributed to our defeat and they might be correct but the beauty of football is that it's all about opinions.

The players and I spoke after the game and we are all trying to correct the mistakes creeping into our game. Inside the changing room we still believe everything is in our hands and we would not have it any other way.

Today we didn't finish the job over 90 minutes and because of this we go home with nothing. We will regroup as a squad and go again on Monday.

This is now the time when we should all stick together, remember where we are and what we have achieved so far this season.

The season is over 38 games, we are 3rd in the table with 11 games to go. A big effort is needed from everybody connected to Coventry United but you have to try to keep the faith while everything is in our own destiny.

Red and Green Army, we will give you all everything we have and hope it's good enough.

No regrets but let's continue to take things:

One Game At A Time..."
