AND THE SEA-DOG WAITS FOR A TREAT... (FROM SASHA HARDING'S PAINTING...)

And The Sea-dog Waits For A Treat…
(from Sasha Harding’s painting…)

When you are a large, gloating fish,
If you time it right
And when you open your mouth,
In swims a tasty, if bony and scaly dish
Of much smaller but plentiful fry,
Albeit a raw and tricky meal…

When you are a lurking, floating gull,
If you time it right
And when you open your bill,
In drop morsels, spilled from a hull
By a fisherman with a lusty beard,
Whose consummate joy can’t be concealed…

When you are the boat’s waiting dog,
You feel you have the right…
And when you open your jaws
In falls a bite, or maybe two
From the master, jaunty and true,
When from his overalls treats are finally revealed…

Just looked to me like food was being accepted by all mouths but the dog’s…

It’ll be fed dreckly…
