Pied Piper…
(from Sasha Harding’s picture)
Instead of a flute,
The Pied Piper, a fishing vessel
Out of Mounts Bay,
Utilises the haunting canine eyes
Of a dog in the stern
And hypnotism to lure
Dolphin schools
And pilchard shoals,
In order to secure
A generous catch…
Amid chugging engine’s rattle
And expectant hungry gulls’ cackle,
The skipper might fill a pipe
With rough and ready shag,
As he steers for Newlyn’s haven
With a silvery, slithering harvest
Dithering below the hatch
Amongst his myriad tackle…

It seemed that the dog was hypnotising dolphins to stay near the boat and locate a rich harvest of fish…
Hence ‘The Pied Piper’ for a fictitious name…
Just a thought…
