PORTLOE PORTRAIT: A POEM FROM ANYA SIMMONS' PAINTING...

Portloe Portrait
(from Anya Simmons’ painting…)

Chunky vessels are tousled and turned
In truculent, lustrous waves
Which darkened sullen rocks have compressed
And tossed into wild turbulence,
Their thrashing stressed,
The cliff-faces frowning malevolence…

Placid dwellings lie nestled but warned
Of virulent, callous tides,
The whitened benign facades not stressed,
Yet alert towards the imminence
Of impending storms, compressed
By cliff-faces, howling malignance…
